Bio
Dr. Karen Lynne Crotty is a board-certified urologist with additional experience as an educator and clinical researcher in the field of urology. She attended medical school as a Second Lieutenant on a United States Air Force scholarship. After completing her surgery training at two USAF bases from 1994 to 1998, Dr. Crotty served as a chief of the Urology sections at the rank of Major before beginning her career in the private sector. Since 2007, she has been on staff at the Dallas VA Medical Center and has served as its Urology chief and assistant chief of Surgery for many years. She has also been a clinical associate professor in the Department of Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas since 2009.
Dr. Crotty earned her medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine in La Jolla. She completed her general surgery and urology residencies at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Crotty has participated in research across the field of urology and now focuses her practice on the treatment of overactive bladder; incontinence; urologic cancers; and urinary tract, pelvic and reproductive disorders.
Dr. Crotty is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the American Urologic Association. She is also a decorated military veteran and has served on numerous committees during her extensive medical career, including on cancer and surgical improvement committees and a fluoroscopy safety subcommittee.
