Hand surgeon Shushan Jacob, M.D., is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and subspecialty-certified in hand surgery.
Jacob graduated from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University – Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai, India, in 1995. She then went on to complete her internship, also in Chennai. Following her internship, Jacob completed a general surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University – Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. She is fellowship-trained in hand, wrist and microsurgery from the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Micro Surgery – University of Louisville in Kentucky, the Philadelphia Hand Center – Thomas Jefferson University, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center – division of plastic surgery in Jackson.
Prior to joining Orthopedic Medicine Specialists, Jacob was the assistant professor for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She is an active lecturer, having spoken on topics including the evaluation and treatment of injuries, as well as conditions affecting the wrist and hand. She has published in the Journal of Wrist Surgery, Annals of Plastic Surgery and Journal of Surgical Research.
Jacob is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery, and American College of Surgeons.
